It's hard to remember sometimes that as Christians this world is not our home. After all it's the only place we've ever lived, so it might be understandable that we'd have trouble remembering this. But, it's not our home and when we remember that we are waiting to enter our heavenly home where peace, love, joy and holiness will reign it helps us to manage this life. We have not been given the gift of eternal life so that we could have better lives here, that's not biblical. We have a better country a better world waiting for us. We are not of this world.
If we could just grasp this we wouldn't be so terrified of the news and the future, we would see it the way Jesus saw it as an opportunity for the kingdom of God. We have to remember. We have to realize that we are only here for a short short time. And knowing this we can make better use of our time, money and resources. We are only here for a short short time. What will you take with you into the next world? Will you take your 401k's, will you take your gold and silver, will you take your children. Hopefully, you will help to take your children and other people's children and hopefully you will use your gold and silver for the kingdom's sake. Nothing matters but what matters in heaven. Everything else will be gone and forgotten. As we run headlong into the Great Tribulation we have to remember this. Look at John the Baptist, he only lived a little over 33 years, he had nothing, and was murdered and yet we still know who he is and what he did for the kingdom. It's not how long you live or how much you have it's what you do with the time you have.
We are so busy listening to the world that we fail to listen to God. So many (myself included) think that God is a god of no, no, no and too many fail to realize that that isn't who God is. We have it all backward and Satan would like us to think in these terms because it keeps us focused on the world.
Really, God is a god of YES, YES, YES!
Yes, to joy, yes to peace, yes to love, yes to innocence, yes to wonder and yes to a future. When we say YES to these things and to God, we are in essence saying NO to the world, we have no room for the world, you can't have it both ways, it's impossible. Say YES to God and live in joy, peace, love and look forward to your future no matter what may happen. Say YES to God and live!

Brie in a time that is so perilous , thank you for reminding me of what is really important.
I enjoyed the hub. Thanks for the reminder.
For some reason the video wouldn't play unless you go to youtube. Glad I did! Not only for 90 minutes in Heaven which was great, But 7 minutes in Hell which caused tears of Joy to flow as the man in the video recounted his experience and God's grace. You hub was awesome! Voted up and awesome dear sweet sister!
Right on Brie, voted up. Blessings, St.L
Brie, I recommend "Death Heaven and Back" by my friend Lonnie Honneycut (Pastor Lonnie on Hub Pages).
(You can put it in your recommend list, it's on Amazon.)
He was dead for about four hours. Brain dead. Heart dead. Pretty much all dead from a medical perspective. He was black when the paramedics got there.
But, he got better!
My favorite part of his testimony is where he was watching his face heal from radiation burns in the mirror a few hours after his resurrection.
I've talked to five people who've come back. Three of them personally. Two of them I consider good friends.
Great hub!
What great truth you write dear sister Brie. I know that in the natural sometimes this short span we call life seems to be extremely long. Some days feel like eternity. Yet when we look at the big picture our time on this earth is as a drop in the ocean.
You are so right about doing what we can while we are here as none of us know where we will be 5 minutes from now. Make every moment count.... I have to go out so i will have to come back and watch the video. I do have a book called 90 minutes in Heaven.
Love and Hugs
My heart goes to the multitudes that think this life is all there is ~ they have no hope. What they really need to realize is that is not the truth. The Truth is just as you've stated here. Our Creator knows why we were placed here, why we live here, our path is predestined and we are blessed to stay on His path, not ours. It may be narrow, but it leads to the gates of heaven. Heaven is a breath away, and while we live, Jesus is a prayer away. Praise God!!
Great hub Brie! We read hubs all the time expressing the fear people feel because of the latest news, but our hope has to be in the Lord! Amen! Peace.

Brie that is exactly right, we are not of this world, and our Kingdom is being in Christ, Christ is our Kingdom, and we live in him and draw from our Father for our "Daily Bread" our "Hidden Manna"
