Don't Trust the "Experts"
65
Pay No Attention to the Man Behind the Curtain
In our humility, in our ignorance, in our apathy we, as a nation, defer to the experts. We defer critical thinking, we defer common sense, we defer decision making and we defer power over our own lives to those we deem "experts". The "experts" can be anyone. They can be our bosses in our firm, they can be the principal of a school, they can be Oprah or Suze Orman, they can be the 6:00 news or they can even be the President of the United States. As a nation we think that because they are rich, because they went to Ivy League schools or because they are on T.V. that "they" know more than we do. You/We are WRONG. We are wrong and in our mistaken judgment lies the death of this country.
We must start using our common sense. When the stock market goes up the same time that the unemployment numbers go up, the experts tell us that the bad times are over and we are in recovery. Does this make any sense? When our new President wins an election partly based on getting us out of war and yet sends additional troops into another war, with no troops coming home, does this make sense? When banks receive bail outs, that were opposed by the majority of the people, to "buy up" bad debts and then do an about face, does this make sense? Does it make sense to "bail out" the rich on the backs of the poor?
Quit listening to people who have been wrong in the past, the so called "experts"! If they were wrong before they will be wrong again. Quit paying people who have no business receiving your money. Why are you paying your credit cards when the interest rates are usurious? Quit paying them, divest, barter, use cash only, get out of the shackles of those that are trying to own you. Take back the power you have relinquished, quit paying those that would steal from you and enslave you, shut off the TV!, quit buying things that you don't need, quit listening to people who are benefiting from your enslavement. Fight back with your common sense, fight back with what you have, your mind, your influence, your time and your money.
Fight back while you still can fight back.

I like to watch the man behind the curtain. :).
You write very good hubs.
Ah what's that? A breath of fresh air? I haven't watched TV in over 3 years now and don't EVEN miss it. You are spot on here and more people need to know this.
Thank you for your efforts.
This is related to internal verses external locus of control. Most people are passive followers who defer to "authority", lack critical thinking skills, and are the "sheeple" that we often refer to. Everyone should read the book called Influence by Robert B. Cialdini. You would then understand how people are manipulated. We also fall for "bread and circuses" and thus are distracted and disengaged. Although I like to write about these type of things, essentially I end up preaching to the choir and those who might benefit will never read beyond the first few sentences, as it upsets the apple cart and is tuned out. Instead I focus on the positives while not ignoring the negatives. I then seek those things that are constructive and enhance my life. Too much focus on all of the negatives will turn you negative and can create depression. Being outdoors on a sunny day is my idea of paradise. Being near a body of water is a positive. Riding a bike is great. The internet can be addictive if you let it be. Negativity can make you feel special but I want to enjoy this life while at the same time being politically conscious and aware. I want to make a difference and I do everyday.
