The Gulf Oil Spill and the Beginning of Sorrows

67

By Brie Hoffman

Every time I see the oil gushing from the bottom of the ocean floor, the animals covered in oil or the waves blotted with tar I get sick. It makes me sick! I find it especially foreboding since I don't believe a single word of that comes out of BP's corporate (read lying) mouth, the shill (read criminal) government's mouth or the “Vichy” media.

So, I am left to ponder the ramifications of this catastrophe. And as I wonder how bad it really is and how long it will continue to destroy the ocean and all that is in it, I wonder what will become of us. After all it only takes a little oil to ruin a great amount of water, it's not like it has to completely inundate the ocean to destroy it. This isn't a catastrophe that we are waiting for or a catastrophe that might happen, this is a catastrophe that is happening, the only question is what will happen. I wonder what the consequences of a dead ocean will be? I wonder how if we can ever stop the flow, how we could ever bring back life that will be lost, will it be lost forever? And now, the oil appears to have been absorbed by clouds and is coming down as rain (see the video below). Once the oil gets into the fresh water supply and the crops what can be done?

No amount of money can ever fix this. No amount of taxes, no amount of settlement, nothing can ever make up for what has been done. Furthermore, this has been done before, not on this level but in Ecuador Chevron left an awful mess, we all know about Exxon and now this the mother of all catastrophes. And now the oil is in the rain. That means that the fresh water will be polluted, the crops will be polluted, everything will be polluted. Will it come to a city near you? Will others become concerned then?

It grieves me deeply. And yet, no one has even mentioned that maybe we should stop all off shore drilling, maybe we should stop using gasoline and oil and either come up with alternative measures or stop it all together. Every time I mention this people look at me as if I were asking for the impossible. We didn't have this oil/gasoline addiction for most of mankind's history, we survived, we managed and so did the oceans and the air and all living creatures. I will go so far as to say things were better before the Oil Companies, before our dependence on foreign oil that funds money into terrorist organizations hell bent on democracies destruction. Things were better then. People lived in close communities dependent upon each other, people worked nearby, they didn't commute and hour each way to work on some endless freeway. Things could be better without them, but will they?

(Luke 21:25) And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

(Mark 13:8) For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

(Revelation 11:18) And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou should give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and should destroy them which destroy the earth.

These are crazy times...and those who have studied the Bible realize that sometime in history it was going to get really really bad...in my "thoughts on the future" hub, I felt God was saying that this would also be exciting times for people who delight in Him...it is hard to stay positive though when the spin doctors are trying to make us angry. Blessings on you Brie.

It can be exciting to see prophecy fulfilled right before your very eyes, but since the prophecies are so dire it is also very sad.

Hi Brie- While I agree that the simpler times you described had their advantages it is hard to imagine returning to primitive methods of trsnsportation and communication. Nice thoughts though. We are sure to witness the outcome of our so called progress. This could well be much more far reaching a disaster than anyone is saying.

The thing is I don't think we need to completely return to those simple times...there are alternative energy sources, vegetable oil can be used instead of crude oil, electric trolleys were used b4 the oil companies bought them all up and replaced them with freeways. The oil companies fight anything that threatens them, it's a mindset we have to overcome.

On day One , I told everyone I knew and everyone that spoke with me about this oil spill that this is going to be a global killer and I only hope I am wrong. This is going to make its way all around the world poisening and killing our ocean life and eco system. It will find its way eventually into our fresh water systems. There will be no stopping this silent monster. Without fresh water, all dies. We will soon be living a Mad Max Beyond Thunder Dome way of life due to this spill. It has been seaping a million gallons a day. Possibly more. There are ruptures/fizzures in the ocean floor as a result of this and these are also pouring out this black poison. Methane bubbles may form and rupture even larger openings in the earth . They will causes earth quakes and tsunamis.

Bri, its been real gorgeous. Its too bad we haven't had the chance to meet, fall in love , get married, have a baby and save the world. Maybe the next time around . Unless an et life form intervenes, this is it.

See ya on the other side kiddo.

The ET life form you are looking for is Jesus Christ:

(Matthew 24:21) For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

(Matthew 24:22) And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

Well, sis ~ "somebody" told me that the word in the news is Obama's stated there will be NO oil production in the US. Is this true? Do you know anything about this? Obviously, we're not in a position NOT to rely on oil, and if this IS the coming "fundamental transformation of America", we'd be absolutely dependent upon foreign oil, right when economic sanctions have been imposed upon the father of terrorist nations...funding their very agenda. Coincidence? I don't mean to sound foolish; I just want to know...You're SO GOOD at research! I'm now working and away from home 11 hours a day. I share in your frustration ~ we trust the Lord; that's what we're called to do.

If "water" represents the Lord (He is the Living Water), and black oil doesn't give it life, but death (symbolizing riches, greed and corruption) ~ is this representative of the condition of our world? The time is coming when the Lord will separate the water from the oil (sheep from the goats; wheat from the tares)...may we be ready.

schmanek 23 months ago

This is not the largest oil spill to date. There was a larger one off the coast of mexico a few years back. Also, more oil was spilled in the atlantic by German U-boats prior to and during WWII. Doubt this is the end of the world. Sorry to disappoint you Brie, but The end of the world that gets you so excited is not here. Those that have their attention in the future are not fit for the kingdom of heaven. Those that find any enjoyment in the suffering of others are not fit for the kingdom of heaven. those that look upon other humans with any distain are not fit for the kingdom of heaven. That is just the way it is.

JD: I've missed you and wondered where you had gone; I thought you might have gotten a job or something. No, I haven't heard about a moratorium on oil in the U.S., nothing would surprise me as we are rushing headlong into the Day of the Lord, nothing surprises me at all.

Brie Hoffman profile image

Brie Hoffman Hub Author 23 months ago

schmanek: You views are not biblical. Jesus told us to discern the signs and to look up when all these things start to happen (future tense) for your redemption draweth night! I do not enjoy peoples suffering at all and hope that this spill can be stopped, I think that was quite evident in the article. The only people I look upon with disdain are the criminals who have destroyed the earth, even they can be saved if they humble themselves before God and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

You can spout all you want but unless they line up with the entire teaching of the scriptures I will denounce them.

RE: The Oil Spill, I never said it was the largest oil spill, however, it's not over yet is it?

Now Brie! take a deap breath, sit down and eat a half of valium! Everything will be OK! Oil is now a mainstay and Oceans will recover, Shores are the worry, and if government had jumped instead of dragging their heels this would at least have some semblance of control. Yesterday 8 barges carrying skimming equipment were dragged into port ALL DAY so the coast guard could check for life jackets and fire extinguishers! There There, it will be OK. LOL Fight government! not man!

Brie Hoffman profile image

Brie Hoffman Hub Author 23 months ago

I know everything will be ok because I have read the end of the book! Nevertheless, the reason everything will be ok is not because of man but because of God. However, God says that he will judge those that have hurt the earth, not me.

Hello Brie. I think it is all fault of our government which doesn’t allowed drilling in the land. It could be capped easily. This environmental nonsense came from old Soviets. They know how to destroy industries. Chaos and destruction is Marx goal.

Thanks for hearing me.

Has anyone noticed that the oil has a dark red color to it? The blood of the dead turns purplish-black.

Rev 16:3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.

Science tells us that oil is the product of things that are dead, ie, plants and animals and men.

I have also been told that this leak is one that cannot simply be plugged off. Also that the leak is really a blow out which is under the ocean floor.

I was torn between buying a Mazda Miata or a 27-speed bicycle. After reading your hub I bought the bike. The plan, however, is slowly taking form. And that is to create dependency. By suspending offshore drilling and the subsequent loss of jobs, thousands of people will be forced to rely on Obama for a regular meal. Now, if they just lowered the prices on bikes we could avoid Armageddon. Interesting how the pieces fall into place.

BTW, I came across an interesting psychological study of Obama. It's scary. Go to Craigslist Rant & Rave - Phoenix, and type in keyword "psychotherapist" (no quotation marks). I can't attest to its validity.

Glad I could be of some influence. I want to get a bike too, but what I want is one of those adult trikes, you can carry stuff in it and they look more comfortable (I'm getting old :)

I'll check out the RR.

loriamoore 23 months ago

Did you hear that they're going to use a wedding band to cap the oil well? They know that once a wedding ring goes on it, it'll never put out again. Tee-hee.

foreignpress 23 months ago

I forgot to mention that it's entitled, "So What Is the Matter With Obama?"

foreignpress 23 months ago

"(I'm getting old :)"

Ha! What an excellent idea for a hub! Are we as old as we think? For example, chronologically I'm ancient. Emotionally I have the mind of a child. Physically I'm in my forties. Imagine the myriad of keywords that could be used to entice advertising! You've struck paydirt on this one!

Was there never a time in history where the earth belched a large amount of oil in to the ocean naturaly? and do you think the ocean filtered itself? just wandering.
