Vitamix Blender for silky smooth split pea soup!

The Vita mix Blender is like having a lawnmower in your kitchen!
YEAH BABY!
Ok, OK, that might be a bit of an exaggeration but it is by far the most
important appliance you will ever own. I can say without reservation
that if I had to pick just one appliance to keep this would be it! You may have seen them at Jamba Juice, Starbucks or in other restaurants, as they are often commercially used.
I have owned a Vita mix blender for over 8 years. I use it almost every day mostly for smoothies. This machine will chop up ANYTHING and I mean anything. It's simple but strong and it will last forever. I must say that after 8 years the little twirly thingamabob went kaput. I called the company, and because my 7 year warranty (they have a 30 day return guarantee and a 7 year warranty) was up, I had to pay $17.00 to have them send me a new one which I did and they did. It took me all of 10 minutes, and I am by no means handy, to fix the widget with their instructions and it was good as new.
The Vita mix blender is made in America! We all know how important that is THESE days.
Moreover, it is the T-Rex of blenders, mine has never clogged up. When I make my smoothies I typically put in a cup of berries, a banana, a whole orange and some pineapple, along with some yogurt. It is delicious and it is as smooth as can be, no lumps whatsoever. I have used my Vita mix blender to make flour out of wheat-berries, grind coffee, crush ice, knead bread and to make sand out of rocks (just kidding...wanted to see if you were paying attention!). All kidding aside, I have made all kinds of things as well as make soups and smoothies. It does such a great job that once I had cooked a huge pot of split pea soup and it would not cook down into a smooth soup. So I took the soup and blended it in the Vita mix blender, and it saved my entire soup! The soup was blended perfectly smooth, otherwise I would have had to throw the whole thing out.
Recently, I was watching a show on T.V that said that up to 90% of all vitamins do nothing but pass through the body without breaking down and contributing anything. The best way to get vitamins and minerals is through organic, or home-grown FOOD! And one of the best ways of preparing those foods is by using the Vita mix blender. By blending your fruits and vegetables you break down the food first so that it travels through the blood stream faster. Not only that but when you eat whole foods you get all kinds of vitamins and minerals, not just one kind like vitamin C. Not only that but your body does better when vitamins are spread out through the day (like when you eat) rather than taking a thousand milligrams of some kind of vitamin. I use my Vita mix blender almost everyday for this reason and I save thousands of dollars over the years by NOT buying insoluble, expensive vitamins.
If you are looking to get healthier by eating more fruits and vegetables and less packaged foods this counter-top blender will inspire you. You can make all kinds of soups, faster than in the microwave (recipes are included) and or smoothies at the drop of a dime, not to mention baby food, ice cream, humus, peanut butter and dips to name a few. Why buy expensive, salt laden V8 drinks when you can make them yourself, with no artificial ingredients. Moreover, it's large enough that you wont have to keep making several batches for a large group and it's better than a juicer because you can blend whole foods and get the fiber too. For example, I make carrot juice with whole carrots and soy milk so that I get the fiber as well as the vitamins and I'm not wasting any part of the food. Juicers really rob you of fiber, waste food and they are messy to clean up. Speaking of cleaning up, that too is easy as pie, you just throw it into the dishwasher.

Furthermore it comes with a recipe book of over 300 recipes. Here is one I have tried:
Waffles:
Add the following into the Vita mix Blender:
1 3/4 c. low-fat milk
3 Eggs or egg substitute
1/4 c. butter
2 c. whole wheat flour
2 tsp. baking powder
Mix and put in waffle iron, voila home-made waffles. Serve with Honey Butter:
1 1/2 c. butter
1 c light olive or canola oil
1/2 c honey
Blend in Vita mix
I know you will enjoy your new Vita mix blender, it's pricey but it's worth the price because you will never buy another blender again. And as those of us who already have one know, once you go Vita mix you will never look back!

That really is the rolls-royce of blenders.
I'm curios on a few things. What is the wattage of this here machine and the horsepower (if at all). How does it compare to the Health Master? I want an emulsifier but not sure which one to get. I like that, lawnmower in your kitchen lol.
Blessings...
I rarely use my blender. I use the juicer, but that wore out after a while, the reason is very simply, time to clean them..lol.
Thank you for reminding, Brie. I will try the recipe.
I make hummus in my blender, but it is a pain. It's just not powerful enough for that procedure. Perhaps when I can afford it, I'll investigate the VitaMix.
I think this is a good sales hub. Especially since you know the product so well.
nice hub, Brie. I LOVE my vita-mix. You're right, it does everything and is easy to clean. It wastes nothing. good job.
Great Hub Brie!
I have had one for years. Mine is older and looks like a tank. Its the heavy duty professional restaurant one I think. I would say its more like the John Deere Tractor of blenders... I am pretty sure it could blend up a few whole watermellons and a pumpkin at least. Not sure I would want to drink it after though.
Great Hub!

Does blending help to avoid wearing our teeth out with all that chewing we'd have to do otherwise? ;-)
And is a little split pea texture in split pea soup really that bad? Seems more interesting and appetising than super-smooth-split-pea-drink to me. ;-)
I have an older Vitamix, and cant' find my recipe book that came with it.. now, I need the recipe for the split pea soup, I"ve made it a long time ago, from putting in the dried peas then powdering it and then adding the rest of the ing. Help anyone that has that recipe. Thanks. BobbieB
