Who Cares about Tiger Woods when the World is Falling Apart!

Boycott Mainstream Media

The media seems hellbent on feeding us a steady diet of mental mush. The world is falling apart and we are given minute by minute updates on Tiger Woods, celebrity du jour! Before Tiger Woods, it was Brittany Spears and Paris Hilton...pullleez!

In order to find out what is really going on in the world I resort to websites like The Drudge Report or Prison Planet.com as they are the media outlets I feel are trustworthy and they report on events that are serious. I find it hard to believe that the majority of Americans are focused on the sex life of Tiger Woods when our entire economic world is falling apart. Therefore, I believe that this infatuation with Tiger Woods, Brittany Spears and/or Paris Hilton is nothing but a further attempt to dumb down the American population. Apparently, the American public is not buying it. The mainstream media seems to be losing it's audience on a grand scale. Not only are newspapers losing readerships but the national Shu Poll found that only one-quarter of Americans believe “all” or “most” of news media reporting. Over half of the respondents believe that it's bad for democracy that only 6 companies own all the major media outlets in the United States, ya think?! Only half think this? What are the other half thinking? Well, maybe they aren't thinking and that is a big part of the problem.

In the meantime, if you do happen to find yourself watching Tiger Woods, Paris Hilton or Brittany Spears on the 6:00 news make a note of all the sponsors that are advertised on that program and purposely pass on those products. The only way the Vichy media will ever start listening to us, the American People, is if we hit em where it hurts, in the pocketbook!

Your point is well taken. The mainstream media is mush. But they are doing what people seem to want. Run a juicy story about some celebrity and people gravitate towards it and want to talk about it. Run a story about an important Senate Debate and people turn away.

This says more about people than anything. I saw a story about Katie Price today. Have no real idea who she is... so I "Google" her. Shes some British Pin Up girl/Reality Star. According to her Wikipedia entry she is worth $66 Million. How does a person like that make that kind of money? Answer: Society has some really screwy values.

Unfortunately there actually is a large amount of society who is buying it... literally.

Brie I gotta give that one a solid right on ! You also mentioned a couple of websites I loiter around as well. The dumbing down of America has been in full swing for some time. What is sad is that the vast majority eat it up. And these are the same Idiots who know the finalist on " American Idol " but do not know who there congressperson is.

I would also like to suggest the website from Steve Quayle as well instead of the empty calorie junkfood we call mainstream media !

I am familiar with Steve Quayle. Have you read the book "Amusing Ourselves to Death"? It is really good and about this subject. Personally, I think that the American media is most to blame for the demise of the United States.

As a person who is deeply religious, you must understand that this "dumbing down" of an entire society is supposed to happen. It's part of the larger plan that paves the way to controlling our minds and, ultimately, our souls. Life has become too complicated for most, with the result that people want to escape -- whether by drugs, spending on frivolous toys, or by following celebrities. Even TV evangelists are trying to reprogram fragile and desperate minds to gain the ultimate reward -- money. This movie script keeps rewriting itself every day.

Yes, I understand that this is so, but even while understanding it I find it difficult to accept.

I agree, we should shun him, not bring him into the spotlight, hes a great golfer, other than that hes simply another failure in the world of humanity, lets talk about those who are heros in this same world, !!! military, pastors, politicians with backbone! ect.

It would seem that they are few and far between American Romance.

You're kidding, right? The DRUDGE report? Stories like Tiger Woods are the bread and butter of that cyberrag.

You must have the Inquirer mixed up with the Drudge Report or maybe you've never read it.

Harely, Brie, Drudge made his bones on the Cinton sex sacnadal. He contnues to promote every vile sensationsl story prominetly on the front page. Now he's a right winger so of course you like him. But he's a scanda monger nonetheless and that's the fact, Jack!

Believe what you want, I'm sure you are spoon fed a steady diet of CNN.

Drudge, CNN, FOX, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS...

All the same, just differing politics. All have an agenda to push. If you want unbiased news, watch the BBC. They just report the facts, They don't have talking heads telling you what you should think.

Yes, the BBC is better than anything in America...although I do like Prison Planet.
